Adolescent & Young Adult Health

Partnership & Opportunities for Adolescent Health Preparation, Support and Services (POPSS)

The POPSS project aims to increase adolescent health by implementing evidence-based programs, policies, and resources in schools, clinics, community sites, and congregate care settings in historically underserved communities in the greater Chicagoland area. POPSS is a collaboration between Texas A&M University and Lurie Children's Hospital. The Lurie Children's Hospital implements evidence-based programs, ensuring community voices and partnerships in the initiative.

Texas Opioid Prevention for Students (TOPS)

The TOPS multi-component initiative provides Texas students grade K-12 with opioid misuse prevention education and services in response to the urgent opioid crisis and compliance with Texas statutes. TOPS serves the 20 Regional Healthcare Partnership (RHP) Regions designated by the Opioid Abatement Funding Council (OAFC).
  • TOPS will use a hub and spoke model.
  • Texas A&M University will serve as the coordination “hub” that supports the eight “spokes” representing the eight consolidated project area sites.
  • TOPS project sites will be staffed by local community health organizers (CHOs) and community health workers (CHWs) responsible for conducting fieldwork.
